Best for beginners
When you are new to poker, what matters most is a clear interface, low pressure and time to learn the rules. Read our Texas Hold'em rules guide first, then start with one of these:
-
1
QQPoker★ 4.3Free chips on sign-up and a guest mode with no registration make starting out stress-free.
-
2
ClubGG★ 4.7A polished, intuitive interface. The easiest club app to pick up.
-
3
WPT Global★ 4.7Traditional Chinese interface, low-stakes tables and new player promotions. The beginner pick among international sites.
Best for playing real people in a club
With a club app you join by entering a club ID, and the tables are mostly regular real players, so there is a strong sense of community (see our beginner's guide to poker clubs for how they work):
Best for game variety
If you already know Texas Hold'em and want to try something different, choose the apps with the most games:
Best for big tournaments
For big guarantees, branded events and heavy traffic around the clock, international poker rooms are the best choice (see our guide to tournaments and cash games for the differences between formats):
-
1
WPT Global★ 4.7The official WPT online site, with a rich MTT schedule and satellites to live events.
-
2
CoinPoker★ 4.4Everything from freerolls and low buy-ins to MTTs, great for practising tournaments on a small budget.
-
3
Red Dragon Poker★ 4.3A brand built on live poker events, with plenty of tournaments.
Want to win a seat at a big event with a small buy-in? Read our WPT Global satellite guide.
Best for playing on a computer
If you want to play on a big screen, choose an app with a desktop version (X-Poker bans emulators, so it is mobile only):
Best for playing with crypto
Crypto prices go up and down, and transfers may carry fees. Check the laws where you live first, and only play with an entertainment budget you can afford.
Checklist before you download a poker app
- Check the games: does the app offer the games you want (Omaha, Short Deck, Pineapple)?
- Check your device: will you only use your phone, or do you need a desktop version?
- Use the right download link: some apps must be downloaded through a referral link for your referral to be linked.
- Have your joining details ready: club apps need a club ID (and sometimes a referrer ID). International poker rooms ask for a referral code when you register.
- Check your local laws: availability varies by region. Follow the law where you live and play responsibly.
Still not sure? Compare every room at once in our poker room comparison table, or read our full comparison of ClubGG and X-Poker.
